Bundesliga sign agreement to help with Indian football development

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Deutsche Futball Liga (DFL), which runs Bundesliga in Germany, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share knowledge and experience to develop the game in India.

AIFF General Secretary Alberto Colaco and DFLs Chief Operating Officer, Holger Hieronymus put pen to paper underlining their agreement to exchange managerial, technical and sporting know-how.

Hieronymus expressed confidence that the MoU would be of help for the development of Indian football.

“Germany has a upper-hand over India in terms of organisation of the league, the marketing of clubs and the league, et al. Our first aim is to popularize German football in India but we would also be involved in the areas of management and organisation, youth programme and sporting activities,” he said.

"We are in the process of converting our semi-professional league into a fully professional league, and we expect DFL to help us chart out the path," Colaco said.

The DLF has also agreed to support AFC’s Vision India project.

Could be a smart move after all India is potentially a massive market and if the Bundesliga can get in first could be very lucritive for German football.

Your right but I was thinking more of the potential fan base a lot of big clubs in Europe ( Man Utd, Real Madrid, Liverpool , Milan etc) have made a lot of effort in recent years to appeal to fans in the far east indeed many said the main reason Real bought David Beckham was to sell shirts in the far east , but as far as I know no european team has tried to break into the Indian market yet and there is almost 1 billion potential footie fans there.
