SFA reject Smith's resignation

The SFA have rejected national team coach Walter Smith's request to be relieved of his duty's in order for him to take the vacant Rangers managerial postion. They have also rejected the proposal for Smith to coach both teams.
quite right, i hope they stick to their guns. Sven-Goran Erikkson showed England more loyalty by rejecting advances from major club teams such as Real Madrid. Why can't wattie show HIS country similar loyalty. He was picked above various worthy candidates to manage his counrty and has so far exceeded all expectations and yet is now ready to walk away. He really has a chance to leave a great legacy with Scotland.

Well surely this is a similar sitution. Walter has turned the team down however through an official source. If he wanted to go he dam well would

smith hasn't turned down rangers, the sfa have denied him permission to talk to them. he's ready to walk away in the middle of a campaign. this situation is totally diferent to erikkson

at the end of the day it just really typical for Scotland. We get shown a glimmer of success and then one of the biggest clubs, although in free fall, has to go and f*** it up for the rest of us. the sfa have done the right thing. hopefully they will stick to their guns and we can maybe get back to what is important, qualifying for major tournaments. And if he does resign, then they have the right to take all sorts of legal action against him for not honouriing his contract.

this is a new low for rangers.
