Pearce confirms his acceptance of U21 job

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed he has accepted the job of succeeding Peter Taylor as England Under 21 coach.

Pearce had been identified by the Football Association as first choice for the job but encountered resistance from City over the amount of time their manager would be required to spend away from the Eastlands outfit.

Those fears have not yet completely been allayed but Pearce has stated he has accepted the job, subject to a final agreement being reached between City and the FA.

The former England star expects to be in position for the clash with Spain at Pride Park on February 6, as well as this summers European Under 21 Championships.

"I have been offered the job and I have accepted it," said Pearce.

"Now, it is down to the club and the FA to both be comfortable with the situation. Hopefully they can finalise one or two things but I dont see any reason why that should not be the case."

And so ends Pearces job at man c. He's up a gum tree if he thinks he'll be able to do both.

As soon as the form of either of his teams falters the fans will beall over him.

taylor made the right desicion to leave. The under 21 job of a national side is important. And I would expect the Man C fans to understand the time pearce will undoutebly have to spend away from his "day job" should city take a slump in form.

Personlly i dont really think he is the man for the job for the U21's. Not experianced enough.
