McLeish confimred as new Scotland Boss

Alex McLeish has been confirmed as the new Scotland Boss. The former Rangers, Hibs and Motherwell Manager will take over from Walter Smith after signing a contract till 2010. McLeish, who played 77 times for his country and appeared in 3 world cups, has named Andy Watson and Scotland and Celtic Legend Roy Aitken as his assistant's.

Scotland are due to play Georgia (at home) and Italy (in Bari) in March.

Personally I would like to wish the guy all the best. I'm still not sure whether the guy is the right choice given what he did at Rangers but compared to what PLG did thier he might not have been as bad as a lot of people make out. You also have to look at the abject job WS did at Everton b4 he took the Scotland job.

I like the fact that they have brought in big Roy as an assistant and I hope thet they can transfer the pride and passion that they showd as Scotland players onto the pitch for this team.

It would maybe be an idea to get some of the younger managers from the SPL such as Levien or John Collins or someone like Gary MacAlistair involved as these guys will have something to teach to the present squad.

at the end of the day he is now manager and i suppose we just have to get behind him. However, i would feel a little more confident if Burns had stayed on as the transition would be smoother but time will tell. We're still in the driving seat as far as qualifying goes. Lets hope big Eck, who was a great player for Scotland, keeps us up there.

I believe onw of his first priorities, after Euro qualification, is to get the old british tournament back again (cant remember what its called)
