Pele questions Theo Walcott's place in England squad

Quote:
Pele insists he - even at 16 - had some experience.

"To select someone who has never played is a big surprise," he told Sky Sports News.

"It is a big difference from me. I was playing in the Maracana for my first national game against Argentina I when I was 16, then I played with Santos for eight to nine months, after almost one year I then went to Sweden with Brazil.

"I had a little bit of experience, I had played some games in the league, this gave me a little bit of confidence but even then in Sweden I was a little lost - it was a dream.

"Imagine a player who never played even in his team going to the World Cup!

"Yeah [I think] he is too inexperienced, maybe he will have a lot to play but it's very difficult."
Is Sven the only man...I know its been beaten to death but...

I agree it has been beaten to death but this may actually help Walcott in some perverse way. Slating the guy may only make hime even morer determined.

OWEN DID IT IN '98

ROONEY DID IT '04

WALCOTT WILL DO IT '06

All came in as new players with little premiership (ok more the walcott has) experience and had a positive influence on England.

C'mon England
