Rio Calls for England Victory Without Rooney

Rio Ferdinand today insisted that England have enough firepower to win the World Cup without Wayne Rooney and insists that the World Cup starts with tonight's game against Hungary.

Ferdinand said “When you look at this squad in detail, in terms of match winners in this squad has the most match winners of any I have been involved in”

He added “You’ve got Frank Lampard who has scored 20 goals from midfield this season and you can’t ask much more than that” ….. “David Beckham has pedigree and Michael Owen is a proven top-notch goalscorer”

“Even without Wayne there is enough in there to do the business.”

It is rumoured that Sven Goran-Eriksson will play his best eleven tonight and Ferdinand has called on his England team mates to give the fans the performance and result that they want before heading to Germany.

They looked not too bad in the 2nd half against Hungary. But what is Hargreaves all about. Get it together Sven and play Carrick.
