Rooney Confident Of Positive Scan

Wayne Rooney will leave England’s training camp this morning and fly to meet Manchester United surgeons to have the scan that will define whether he can participate in the World Cup.

Sven Goran Erikkson is confident that Rooney will be able to play for England at some stage of the competition although the opening game against Paraguay is out of the question.

"I'm confident he will take part in the World Cup and he is 300 percent confident that he will play," affirmed Eriksson.

"I have been saying for one month that I'm sure he will take part in the World Cup.

"But I look forward to the point when we don't discuss scans and Rooney's foot any more."

However, Eriksson is looking forward to knowing the results of his start player’s scan, "Wayne flies out mid-morning, the scan is in the afternoon.

"The doctor will phone me when he knows anything.

"They are back in the evening, so we should know something then."
