How important is Gerrard?

all the recent hype and media circus has been about Rooney and his importance to England's campaign but surely Gerrard's latest fitness scare should be of even greater concern for England fans.

So how important is Gerrard to England's World Cup hopes?

Personally i feel that Gerrard is England's best player.

Gerrard is the best midfielder of his type in the world.

Passing, shooting and determination - he is in a class of his own.

totally agree. forget Rooney, Gerrard is their genuine top class player.
England had better hope HE doesn't get injured

I going to be bold and think D.B is going to be the star of England these few months, looked good in the warm up and doesnt have any pressure on him this time. Before it was always about Beckham. Now its others.

D.B a class act but i don't think he would walk into the Brazil team ( who are the benchmark). Gerrard offers more i think.
although this could be a great tourney for Becks coz as u say not as much pressure on him

Hate to say it but Gerrard is the lynchpin of the Engalnd team if Gerrad plays well Engalnd play well

No doubt Stevie G is a big player for us. But we have plenty in midfield to cover him.
More imortant for England is the Strikers. They HAVE to score goals. With not much cover they also HAVE to stay fit.

If Engalnd have no strikers Stevie G and England will struggle to make an impact.
