Gerarrd Demands Killer Touch

England midfielder Steven Gerrard has called on his team mates to provide some killer instincts if they are to challenge for the World Cup trophy.

Gerrard was speaking after his team won their opening match 1-0 against Paraguay on Saturday. England dominated the first hour of play but failed to capitalise on their possession and territorial advantages and were left almost hanging on to a slender victory.

He said "We've got to learn to go on and get two or three to kill teams off and make it easier towards the end.

"We had high intensity in the first half but it was so difficult to do it for 90 minutes. It's impossible.

"After five minutes the heat starts to take control and it was really difficult towards the end."

Gerrard specifically mentioned Micheal Owen and said

"Michael looks really sharp in training from what I've seen of him. He looked sharp against Jamaica.

"Obviously he didn't get a goal but he might get one or two for us in the next game."

Gerrards got it spot on.

Maybe with that victory the confidence will grow. But I still think the players don't like Sven's tactics and struggle to understand his manouvers and that could undermine Englands confidence and chances.

do you think maradona, pele, zico, zidanne, ronaldhino ,ronaldo etc etc etc, give a monkeys about tactics, they rose above it and destroyed teams! No excuses!
Englands excuses for not winning the world cup already, is allready their downfall! that proves to me that even the fans of their own really deep down know england are not superb, but more like hoping for someone to shine like rooney, this isnt enough to win! England are already beat, believe me!
You do thees,thees,thees,thees,thees,GOAL, Easy,peesy,poo!!

i don't think England have the class. they're a very predictable team.
can Gerrard and Lampard play in the same team? it's one or the other.
it's not about playing the best players to keep them happy but playing your best team

The FORCE will always triumph over the dark side!!!

The main problem with Engerland is the manager, his squad selections and his subsitutions.

In the last world cup the 2 people who caused England to go out?

Beckham because he **** himself when a tackle came in a jumped out the way which in turn led to Rivaldo's goal
Eriksson for not changing the team when Brazil went down to 10 men.

This year will be Eriksson again. Reason? he will run out of fit strikers and then be hanged for it.
