England National team

which formation would you use and why? And which players would you put on and where... Dont forget the bench!!

-----------James------------
Bridge---Carragher---Terry----Cole
---------Hargreaves------------
Wright-Philips------------------Cole
---------Lampard---------------
---------Crouch----Owen-------

Now this would be my ideal formation with Gerrard, And Carrick coming in for Hargreaves,Lampard every half-time keeping the team looking fresh and alive!

In the current scenario where Owen and a few others arent fully-fit yet then I would use

---------James------------
Bridge----Ferdinand---Terry------Cole
-----------Hargreaves/Carrick(half-time)--------
Lennon-----------------------------------Cole
----------Lampard/Gerrard(half-time)------------
---------Crouch----Rooney----------------

Surely you wouldnt pick Johnson over the likes of Owen, Rooney, Bent, Crouch etc. And having Gerrard and Lampard up front just doesent suit England, Thus why we must move them back and possibly move the two Wingers forward

Also on the bench I would put Hargreaves, Crouch, Owen, Carrick, Rooney, King

I would pick Johnson over Rooney and Owen put together anyday! Johnson is exactly what England need right now, A brilliant goal-poacher that doesent keep moving into midfield.

I would put on the bench: Crouch, Rooney, S.W.P, Hargreaves, Bridge, Carrick

i dnt understand why half of the england supporters would prefer owen and/or rooney over crouch?? Crouch is on amazing form has the height ability to lay the ball down for other strike partners and create attacking opportunities from set pieces. With owen n rooney, they need the ball to their feet and in the air, which england do most of the time, is easy for opposition centre backs to win. Crouch shud b a first teamer. Heres ma squad.

James
Carragher Ferdinand.R Terry A.Cole/Bridge/Shorey

Beckham Gerrard Hargreaves J.Cole

Crouch Rooney

SUbs: Carson (under-rated), Taylor, Campbell, Hargreaves, Owen/Johnson.

P.S. how come mclaren doesnt use the u21 playas n giv them n opportunity to play?? surely with some of the england first team getting towards the retirement age, it wud b useful to play sum of the youngsters who did well in the Euro u21 tournament??

he's to much like sven in that respect although he has brought david nugent in i feel that was because he needed another striker rather than him wanting to give him a chance, what i find more perplexing is that he pretty much knows his starting eleve why doesn't he use friendlies to try squad players out and also new formations to give us plan a,b,c and d

I reckon Walcott and Bent would be a lethal attacking force, With the best years ahead of them!!

Bent and walcott still have to prove themselves as top class strikers, and being as wenger prefers walcott on the wing then that may be a pipe dream

Does the problem lie with the manager or the poor team-chemistry??

I say Steve Mclaren is the worst thing to happen to England since Scholes retirement of international football

i believe that england will always have the talent to win the world cup & euros but i feel that its the manager who has to be the glue to keep everything firm and tight just like sven goran eriksson did during his team w/ the team

erriksson was the worst thing to happen to england, worse than graham taylor, it's his lack of passion that the ex sven players have to shake off, but it doesn't help having the ginger sven mac 2 in charge they must be wishing they'd gone for o neill

"Lucky Gus Hiddink" finishes his contract with russia soon and maybe if Mclaren gets fired Hiddink can take his spot? Hiddink is a brilliant proven coach that can make even the 'shittiest' of teams make to the world cup

absoloute rubbish he took probably our best crop of young and experienced players and got nowhere impressive, also didn't stamp his authority on the team relied on players coming back from injurys to carry him through tournements, he should have stuck to club mangement like keegan should have but at least keegan had passion and didn't make watching paint dry more intresting than watching one of errikksons boring, pointless, uninspiring and exccedingly dull internationals that we had to sit through.

listen to yourself
how many times have england won the world cup?
once.
your talking like england wins the cup every time.
SGE did a good job as being manager.
steve Mclaren hasnt done to hot of a job either.
and you can never put the blame on the manager.
last summer england had one of the best teams and they couldnt find a way to win it .if you ask me thats the players fault

some blame has to be accepted by the players but when you've got a passionless twit in charge who is only interested in what secretary is working rather than the tactical sid eof the game what do you expect, his bad judgement has cost us two important games, letting injured players play, not using hesky when he had to instaed put vassell on who is the same height as owen and can't head the ball let alone hold it up. he should never have been appointed and i pity man city fans as they have got the poss the worst coach in the world at this moment in time irrespective of his previous achievements at other clubs he has managed
