Former Super Middleweight king and Light Heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe has relinquished his titles to go up against the former Middleweight/ Super Middleweight/ Light Heavyweight/ & Former Heavyweight champion of the world Roy Jones Jr.

Heres Roy's boxing biography in my words

If you havn't heard Roy isn't even close to 50% of the fighter he use to be just 4years ago, Roy was the p4p king of our generation and was an absolute peoples champion, When Roy conquered the Middleweight division by defeating the heavily favoured Bernard 'the executioiner Hopkins' in 1993 after cleaning out the division of all its greatest fighters, his fans started calling out for him to move up to beat the then king of the super middleweight division the undeafeated in 44 professional fights 'Lights out' James Toney, Having defeated Toney in a totally one-sided affair his fans again started calling him out to go the light heavyweight division because it all seemed a little too easy for Roy. Roy moved up to the light-heavyweight division and went straight into a cash-cal megafight for the wbc light-heavyweight title with Michael Mccalum, After destroying him in 9 rounds Roy then proceded to conquer the IBF,IBO,WBA,WBC,WBF,NBA, and the International Boxing Association light heavyweight title's all at the same time!(a feat never done before and never matched since). After completely destorying any all competition in the light-heavyweight division Roy moved up to the Heavyweight division much to everybody's disbelief and even his fans started to go against the move as it was unheard of a middleweight to go all the way up to the heavyweight division, Roy or Super-man as he is known in the states went up to the heavyweight division and beat the then heavyweight champion John Ruiz to a 12 round unanimous decision, At this point in his career Roy is undefeated(except for that pathetic disqualification against Montell Griffiths which really shouldn't stand) in 50 professional fights having gone from Middleweight - Heavyweight and beaten champions of each division decided to retire, But his fans wouldn't have it and started rumours of him retiring because he was afraid of the new king of the light heavyweight division Antonio Tarver, He somehow managed to get his body back down to 175 after hitting 210+ to be a heavyweight( which in itself is phenomenal but when you consider that Roy doesn't seem to have an ounce of fat on him he's pure muscle it means he would've had to lose muscle mass to get down 175!) He beat Antonio Tarver but really struggled to survive in the latter rounds as moving in and out of weight divisions took a toll on his body, The boxing public started calling for a rematch because his win was controversial, Roy came back and went on a bit of a losing spree and got knocked out the first time in his career by Antonio Tarver. Roy took a break from boxing having accomplished all he can. Now back by popular demand he is coming off wins against Anthony Hanshaw and the legendary Felix Trinidad(although a legend at welterweight and middleweight fighting way out of his prime) Roy is now set up to face the current p4p king Joe Calzaghe undefeated in 45 professional fights with his most notable wins coming against Bernard Hopkins, Chris Eubank, Mikkel Kessler, And Jeff Lacy.

Im favouring Calzaghe for this fight because Roy is too far from his prime to be fighting a fighter of Joe Calzaghe's class, Albeit Roy has quicker hand speed and much much more power than Calzaghe, You can never bet against Jones Junior because like his nick-name says he is a real life super-man.
The winner of this fight has the oportunity to move up to the heavyweight division and fight the current no.2 ranked heavyweight in the world, the hugely powerful Samuel Peter.

Whatever happens i'm just looking forward to this once in a lifetime clash of legends and I just wonder will it be Joe Calzaghe's superior stamina/age/work-rate make the difference or will Jones turn the clock back just enough to use his superior punching power, hand-speed and reflexes to give Joe Calzaghe a boxing lesson. cheers

As you say, in his prime Roy Jones Jr is arguably one of the biggest superstars of all time boxing. IMO, his entry into the heavy weight scene was against, I would say, one of the poorest heavy weight champs ever to wear the belt(s).

I can only see Joe winning this one. Watching the more recent fights of Jones Jr looks very laborious and seems to operate with his arms down & gasping for breath., but, hey, it sure makes for interesting viewing.

Now moved to November, right ?

after seeing recent interviews of joe, I'm definatelly picking him now, he said he is in the best physical and mental career he's ever been and getting rid of frank warren really took alot of extra stress off his back, Joe definatelly gonna win now, but will he take the cowards way out and retire even though pavlik has called him out publicly.
