The Discovery Channel cycling team have signed Italian Ivan Basso on a 2 year contract. The team have been searching for a top name to replace Lance Armstrong since his retirement after the 2005 Tour de France.
Basso finished the 05 tour in second place and is highly rated by the Texan.
Basso won the Giro d'Italia last year but was banned from competing in the TDF because he was linked to the Spanish doping scandal all charges against him were dropped last month.

I can't comment on the channel I've never seen it , but the team is far from Nerdy imo ,Road race cycling is sport at it's best as far as I am concerned and I don't give a monkies about the drug alegations, riding the tour de France is the equivalent to running 2 or 3 marathons a day every day for 3 weeks I think these guys wouldn't be human if they weren't on something.

I don't see your point as I said the channel may well be nerdy but that is nothing to do with the cycling team they are just the sponsors, it just so happens that in cycling the team takes on the sponsors name ,before it was the Discovery Channel team it was the US Postal service team and before that Motorola but it is still the same team.
