"Dessie" dies aged 27.

National Hunt legend Desert Orchid died today aged 27.The gallant grey possibly the most popular race horse ever won 34 races in total including the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1989 and the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Kempton Park 4 times.Dessie retired from racing in 1991.

He was still a beautiful horse at 27.

I don't normally feel any remorse when I hear of a horse's death but Dessie was different. Just watching the old clips shows how much of a character he was.

I wasnt aware it had been so long. He is up there with the greats of horseracing IMO.

What they have stables there too? Might take up some horseriding especially for the afterlife
