Cycling world track championships

2 golds for Brittain on the first day of the world championship in Spain , Bradley Wiggins took gold in the metres individual persuit , he overhauled his German opponent Robert Bartko a little over half way into the 4km event.

Victoria Pendelton & Shanaze Reade won the inaugural womens team sprint gold defeating Holland in the final.

The mens sprint team of Craig Maclean , Ross Edgar & Chris Hoy narrowly missed out on gold losing to France in the final by 2 hundredths of a second & had to settle for silver.

All in all a great start to these world championships in what is has been Brittains most successful sport at world & Olympic level in recent years.
