the best ODI batsman at the momen t?

There is a lot of great ODI batsmen but personally i say the best ODI batter at the moment is Matthew Hayden.He was the key to Austrailias success in the world cup in March,Also worth a shout is kevin Pietersen, Questionably Englands best batter at the moment.

yer KP easily .. ricky ponting is good but past his prime now .. he will slowly deminish and KP and the other youngsters in world cricket will be the next era of players !

Its a strange one with KP he seems to be courting captaincy but still isnt looking as good as he was 2 years afo

true but if you look at recent history esp then when a good batter becomes captin there form struggles with the bat look at atherton, goocg and vaughn all quality batsman and then when they were given the nod their batting suffered

Its the same with football I can think of at least a dozen players that fell of the pace when they got captaincy - Henry is probably the most high profile

but he was poor last season even though he struggled with injury which didn't help he did seem to have something else on his mind and to be fair arsenal are playing better at the moment without him

If your just a batsman u can focus on one thing but if your a captain aswell then you have two things to focus on ,Some people cope with it quite well,The likes of Ricky Ponting who is the best captain in cricket at the moment.

true although greame smith is a close second, it seems to be an english failing of not being able to multitask at an international sporting level

Its not definite hes just turned down captiancy of the one-day team so people are linking the two together
