vCash: 480 | Thompson to continue in role despite cancer problems Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson will continue in his role despite undergoing more advanced treatment for prostate cancer. The Tannadice chief was first diagnosed with the illness three years ago and underwent unsuccessful radiotherapy. Now Thompson has been advised to undergo an increased treatment, which began at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee last week, as the condition becomes more aggressive. A statement on the clubs official website, www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk, said: "For the benefit of United fans, the chairman wishes to stress that none of this is affecting his on-going duties at Tannadice and he is putting in virtually the same hours as before." The statement continued: "He is still as dedicated to the club as ever and in his support for the manager and in his ambitions for the club. He has in the past helped the club with short-term cash flow problems and will continue to do so. This will also include additional finance for the manager to strengthen the playing squad. An example of this is the latest signing of Christian Kalvenes from Brann Bergen in Norway." The statement added: "Mr Thompson wishes to personally take this opportunity to thank the management and staff at Ninewells who have been extremely supportive of him during his illness." |

vCash: 500 | He has put his heart and soul into Utd with virtually no success as managers have wasted a lot of funds. A gentle of Scottish football and I hope he fully recovers. |
