the most worrying name that has been mentioned has been Gary Macalistair. I wasnt a big fan of him as a player in the later days of his Scotland career but the fact is the guy has no positive managerial experiance. even billy davies has more experiance.

My early shout is Sounness. craig levien would be an outside shout. he built a really good hearts team b4 the money arrived at Tyncastle. They were always really difficult to beat and I think he gets the best out of the players in his squad.

"We hate Kelvin MacKenzie, he's a p**f!" T shirts now on sale. £5 each. Who says Scot's don't know how to make money.

I think a few names mentioned such as Gary McCallister are possibilities. McCallister was a great professional as a player and he could bring some experience and calmness to the Scotland camp. I can't think of any names in particular, but McCallister is my personal favourite.

we don't need calmness. what we need is fire and spirit and a manager who can get the players fired up. that's the reason Scotland have such a good record recently, and why Voghts was ineffective in the job.

I think you do need clamness mate, in the end I think that's what cost you; Hutton going forward too much, McFadden panicking with that chance and other incidents.
Scotland have good players and will do good things as long as they keep their heads when it matters. They failed to do so against Italy after they had done so well before that.

you have a point, but the only reason we were in the position we were in with the Italy game is because the players were so motivated and fired up.

Yes indeed mate. But if you see the Ukraine game at Hampden, the players were keeping the ball, passing it and making the most of their chances. That's more than what can be said about the Italy game; You were quite sloppy in posession and got what was coming to you.

i thought we played well. it might not have been the most attractive football, i'll admit, but it was getting the job done. to come back from being a goal down against the World Champions is good going - especially considering Italy's defensive abilities. it was working well right up until the end, when we were unlucky to lose a silly goal. had we played in the calmer, more patient style (that being a generous way of putting it) that Craig Brown employed, we'd be nowhere in sight, and the game would likely have finished 0-3. Scotland have always played well when they're worked up. i think it's a genetic thing, going back to the Picts. the Romans invade, we paint ourselves blue and square go them and send them back to the coliseum.

just didn't work out as well for us this time, sadly.

an interesting analogy and strangely i agree as there is nothing better than seeing a scotland side fired up and raring to if you can couple that to keeping a few cool heads up front then i think you will overtake england in the rankings and we'll have to be the poor relation.

are you on drugs? England will get mourinho, or Capello, or Scolari. Scotland will get some joker like Davies.

you misunderstand my point england are getting the big names because there are more talented players supposedly than scotland, scotland need a manager who will get them fired up, because as wellas they've played recently thet are still a way behind england from a skill and technique point of view do the three you mentioned would prob be as bad as vogts for scotland.

looks like it's Burley then.

could work well. Burley did well at Hearts, before becoming Romanov's first victim.

Good choice I think, although the Scotland job is extra tough for anybody, as there isnt many real good players to choose from.

that's abit harsh esp on your recent performances what you have in abundance is passion though and that does help, if it is burley then you won't have too much to worry about as i suspect he won't change much
