Kennedy makes first appearance for well over two years

Celtic defender John Kennedy made his first competitive action in two-and-a-half years against Motherwell reserves on Tuesday.

Kennedy has undergone four operations on his left knee after it was shattered during his Scotland debut against Romania in March 2004.

The 23-year old played the final 16 minutes of the reserve league match at Fir Park, which Celtic won 2-0.

Kennedys last appearance was in a 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox.

great news. he may suffer the odd setback or niggly injury but fingers crossed that his knee holds up. It will be great to see him back in 1st team action. Caldwell, McManus will be looking over their shoulders.

Sounds like this Kennedy is a good player. Good luck for him. Was he very good befor he got this injury and how did he get it. Do you think hes one of Celtics best players??. Tell me more people who know...

he was s the youngerst player ever to play for Celts and i beleieve tht he still is? great defender. We can only wait and see if he has recovere fully.

no idea. After Christmas perhaps. The sooner the better as he is a very classy defender and God knows we could do with him right now.

without a doubt. If he's anything like he was previous to his injury he'll not just be the best centre half at Celtic but one of the top 10 in the UK. He is that good
