Which is the better number of teams for the SPL 10 teams or 12 teams?

I realise that in an ideal world the SPL would have 16 teams playing each other once home and once away for 30 games per club per SPL edition.


However the top flight of Scottish football has either been 10 or 12 teams in it at any one time since the mid 1970's and this looks likely as the only choices that are realistically going to be the size of the SPL i.e. the number of clubs atany one time in the spl is either 10 teams or 12 teams at any one time.

Which is the better number of club for the SPL to have 10 or 12 and why?

I say 10 becuase each team plays each other an equal number of times home (twice) and away (twice) which is fairer than playing 3 times against each other as a team plays at home twice against a club and only once away against that club or vise versa and it is unfair becuase playing at home usually gives an advantage to the home teams thus unfair.
