vCash: 500 | Lenny to stay at Parkhead, but why? I'm struggling to come to terms with the desicion to offer Neil Lennon a new contract. I can only hope that he has accepted the contract with the knowledge that he will be used as a bit part player in the same way that Paul Lambert was in his last year at Celts. However i cant see this happening. Strchan has done superbly well this week bringing in some transfers and i think it would have been a good week to part ways with Lennon and try to get perov to stay by offering the captaincy |

vCash: 500 | have to agree. apart from experience i don't see what else Lenny can now offer and he's one of the top earners at Parkhead. don't know how much an effect offering Petrov the captaincy would have but he would be the obvious choice if Lenny wasn't here. |

vCash: 500 | Petrov wants to leave and we need to keep Lennon for at least another year. I reckon Strachan wants to get Brown in now to start gaining some experience from Lennon. Offering Petrov the captaincy will have no effecton his decision to leave. |

vCash: 1381 | I reckon Petrov will still move. Keeping Lennon is wise. Celtic have lot to many experienced players in the last couple of season particularly in attack. I think he is trying to keep some continuity in the team after guys like Sutton Hartson have left. Lennon will be his leader on the field. D'oh |

vCash: 500 | If Lennon does stay surly he can't expect to get as much 1st team football as he did last year. Surely we can'nt play him in the Champions League, he's never done it there. As for Petrov, yeah maybe his mind is made up. But i think he has been messed about since Strachan got here. He was completely overlooked for the Captaincy at the start of the season, when he was the obvious successer and to add to that he has been played all over the place to accomadate both Lennon and Keane. We should have been building the team around Petrov, not Keane and Lennon. |

vCash: 500 | But you can't build a team around Petrov if he has been planning to leave. Anyway Celtic want to keep him, I don't think that it is about money, more about his career. Maybe I will get shot down here but he isn't that good a player. He would never cut it at the top Premiership clubs. Celtic should be selling him if they can get £5M plus. The next phonecall should be to Hibs to put an offer in for Scott Brown using Petrov's cash. He isn't as good as Petrov yet, but he looks better than what Petrov did when he first arrived at Celtic. |

vCash: 500 | Petrov in my opinion would have been happy to stay at Parkhead if he was given the armband last year but his nose was put out of joint when it was given to lennon then Keane arrived and put him further down the pecking order and his agent has got him to spit the dummy and sorry Joe i don't agree Petrov is a superb player and in my opinion going down south to a lower team is a backwards move as he has no chance of getting into Europe with a team like Portsmouth and putting himself into a European tranfer window |

vCash: 500 | Grimmy there is no need to apologise, it is about opinion! Petrov is a great player for Celtic, he would also be a great player for Portsmouth, although I would agree with you that this may be a step backwards. My point was that I think that Petrov may have delusions of grandeur, he may believe that he has the ability to cut it at the top Premiership sides, I don't think that he will. |
