Burke Happy With Le Guen

Rangers winger Chris Burke believes new boss Paul le Guen is already having a positive effect on the players during Rangers’ pre-season training.

Speaking to Rangers World, Burke said: “ It has been really intense stuff from day one and it’s been good.

“ I think he’s (le Guen) settling in well. Every manager has a different regime and you just have to adapt to that. He’s a gentleman and I hope we’ll have a long, successful career with him.”

Le Guen has a reputation for being a demanding coach and is putting the Ibrox squad through double training sessions consisting of running in the morning and ball work plus practice matches in the afternoon.

The former Lyon coach is no slouch himself when it comes to fitness after completing the Marathon des Sables, a six-day endurance race across the Sahara desert.

Despite the ‘no pain, no gain’ approach adopted by le Guen, Burke says the players are warming to their new coach’s style and are already reaping the benefits. He added: “It has been hard but it’s been enjoyable. I feel as though I’m getting fitter with every training session with each day that passes.

“ I am sure everybody else is as well and hopefully it will be a good start to the season.”

He is only working his ticket to the premiership in England, 1 season, a league title and he will be travelling down the M6.

what jealous nonsense! anyway, that aside, I think he will be fantastic at the club and relish the challenge. (yes, I know it's one helluva challenge). Scottish, nay, BRITISH football is far too lax with it's fitness, and it doesn't matter how much managers like to gripe about players' lifestyles and lack of fitness, they have to lead by example. Le Guen's doing that and then some....

You need to win the league to get into the CL next season. That is not going to happen, the poor frenchman will not like the cold in Scotland this winter, trust me
