Espanyol v Barcelona.

Barca face a derby match against local rivals Espanyol tonight I don't know if this game has a political element to it but judging by the name I guess Espanyol is a team for those who consider themselves Spanish rather than Catalan kick off is at 21.00 gmt.

Barcelona went down 3-1 must have been a bad tempered match , Espanyol had 8 players booked and Barca had 2 sent off.

You guess wrong. Espanyol are not a team for those who consider themselves Spanish rather than Catalan. The reason why the team has that name is because when FC Barcelona was formed it was composed of foreigners (mainly British), Espanyol was the first Barcelona football club to be set up by Spanish /Catalan men. The name signifies that the club is that of the Spaniards rather than a foreign team - hence the true Barcelona club!!
The club is proudly Catalan and it's supporters are Catalan too.
