1st home defeat for Sevilla

Sevilla failed to capitalise on Barca's defeat as they lost 2-1 at home to Real Mallorca putting an end to their perfect home record ( 8 wins out of 8 before today.
Real Madrid now have the chance to close the gap at the top when they play Real Zaragoza this evening.

Real Madrid beat Real Zaragoza 1-0 with a Ruud Van Nistlerooy goal just before half time moving them level on points with Barcelona and just 2 behind leaders Sevilla.
Valencia also moved into contention with a 3-0 home victory over Levante.

Top of the table:
1st Sevilla 37 pts, 2nd Barcelona 35, 3rd Real Madrid 35, 4th Valencia 33, 5th Atletico Madrid 32.

Barcelona have played one game less than the rest.
