La Liga got underway last weekend

Champions Real Madrid started the season with a derby against Atletico & survived going behind in the 1st minute to come back and win 2-1 with goals from old favourite Raul & new signing Wesley Sneijder.

It got better for Real as later in the evening Barcelona were held 0-0 by Racing Santander in their opening game & Valencia lost 3-0 at home to Villarreal .

Sevilla got off to a great start running out 4-1 winners over Getafe , newly promoted Almeria shocked Deportivo 3-0 in La Coruña in their opening La Liga fixture.

Real Madrid are the only team with 2 la liga wins from 2 games after they crushed Villarreal 5-0 at the Madrigal.

Barcelona are one of 4 teams on 4 points after they won 3-1 against Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou

Valencia overcame their shock defeat last week to win at newly promoted Almeria.

Sevilla's encounter with Osasuna was postponed following the tragic death of defender Antonio Puerta .

Real march on , Barca stumble on

Real Madrid made it 3 wins from 3 with a comfortable 3-1 win over Almeria , Weslet Sneijder was again amongst the scorers & has netted in all Real's league games so far , arch rivals Barcelona were held 0-0 at Osasuna and are now 4 points adrift at the top.

Sevilla made it 2 wins from 2 with a 4-1 thrashing of Recreativo Huelva with 2 goals a piece for Kanoute & Kerzhakov.Valencia also recorded their 2nd win 2-1 over Valladolid

Top of the table
1st Real Madrid 9 pts, 2nd Sevilla 6, 3rd Valencia 6, 4th Villarreal 6, 5th Barcelona 5

Real Madrid dropped their first points of the season when they were held 1-1 at Valladolid , Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-1 , Valencia won 2-1 at Real Betis , Villarreal are 2nd following their 2-0 win over Murcia

1st Real Madrid 10 pts, 2nd Villarreal 9, 3rd Valencia 9, 4th Barcelona 8 , 5th Sevilla 6

yes gH Valladolid are newly promoted , they are currently 9th after 4 games won 1 drawn 2 lost 1 , by all accounts it was a very good game against Real on Sunday and Valladolid were unlucky not to win .
