McFadden makes boss Moyes mad

DAVID MOYES admits James McFadden leaves him furious at times.

But the Everton boss reckons the fans are finally seeing the best of the Scottish goal ace — four years after he left Motherwell for Goodison.

McFadden, 24, took his tally this season for club and country to six with a goal at Metalist as Everton qualified for the group stages of the UEFA Cup on Thursday night.

And Moyes will unleash McFadden on Newcastle on Sunday — even though he has the ability to drive him round the bend.

Moyes said: “We’re getting bits of the best out of Faddy just now. There’s a bit of him which infuriates but there’s certainly bits that get you out of your seat.

“At the moment he’s got an eye for goal. He’s happy to take on the opportunities like he did for Scotland against France.

“He’s showing more maturity with his decision-making on the field and he’s doing better.

“It’s coming — which we always thought it would do — with age and experience.”

Everton’s weary players only landed in Liverpool at 5.30am yesterday but Moyes insists his side will be wide awake by the time they face Sam Allardyce’s troops.

Moyes’ side are fifth in the Premier League and he added: “We have to try and keep the momentum going.

“We’ve won three games in a row and this will be a big game to make it four.”

As for McFadden, he reckons the Merseysiders are finally beginning to believe in themselves in Europe.

But he feared the worst after unknown Ukrainians Metalist gave them an early pasting.
With his side 2-1 behind, McFadden levelled before sub Victor Anichebe put some gloss on the result with a late winner to clinch a 4-3 aggregate victory.

McFadden, in for injured Andy Johnson, said: “Hopefully, we’ll look back at this fantastic result as the pivotal moment of the season.

“A win like this can give us the belief to go on from here. In the first half, it looked as if we were going to do what we usually do — roll over and die.

“But we have fought back and got the win. This result is right up there for me.

“It was a very important goal but I’d like to get a few more. I know I’ve got a reputation for scoring spectacular goals but a tap-in would be good enough.

“I’ve been playing centre forward and that’s where I like to be. If I can start scoring, it will suit me, the manager and the team.

“You’ve just got to make sure you’re ready to take your chance. The last three or four games I’ve done all right. Hopefully, I can get better and stay in the team.”

Mcfadden is a very good player and can become a great player for Scotland, if he keepsb scoring goals then he can prove to be a very good striker.
