vCash: 500 | I am sick of hearing that england are not producing great players because of the amount of foreigners in the premiership...i mean lets be honest if you are good enough then you will play in the premiership and then break thought and play in the main squad. English people always want to blame someone or something for their failures so this year because they are struggling to qualify for the euro2008 they blame the ammount of foreigners. If england had not struggled would this topic had come up??? Gerrard has said he is supporting this idea but lets be honest....would he had won the champions league if liverpool were playing with only 3 foreigners in the starting 11?? I think we all know that the answer is NO. If they introduce this in the english league then im 100%sure that english clubs will fail in their champions league bid. And finally the reason there are alot of foreigners in the premiership is because they are cheaper to buy....and also alot better. A great example of this is berbatov=10.9Million and is a fantastic striker....but if you want to buy an english good striker he is gonna cost 16.5milllion and thats darren bent for you. I mean look at wright philipps,he cost 21million pounds but man utd got nani who is younger and more talented for 17million. There are lots of examples but definely english talent is very expensive compared to the foreign market. Maybe the FA should have spent less on their 800million pound stadium and put more money into the development of their youth system thoughout the country...and if you think properly have you seen the amount of quality wingers coming up that are english....walcott,ashly young, scott sinclair... they are all similar to one foreign player who they deeply admire....CRISTIANO RONALDO. Looks like the foreigners are actually helping the english game!!! Cheers Last edited by Trickster87 : 11-18-2007 at 07:24 AM. |

vCash: 379 | I agree , infact i don't think there is a lot wrong with the England team other than the ridiculously high expectations of English fans and media |

vCash: 500 | English talent is so expensive because there simply is not enough of it at present it is simple supply and demand. Having too many foreign players hinders the development of many younger english players they just do not get as many opportunities. Of course it will have an impact on the national team. |

vCash: 465 | football has now become a multi national sport so obviously managers and clubs will look for cheaper options abroad, but there is still a lot of good players in the lower leagues wheregood players don't seem to get a chance, i can think of at least two players that should have been looked at by the lesser prem clubs, but wenger has a good point that any young english players that they don't take on can forge a csreer for themselves and still make it to the top, look at sidwell at chelsea and nugent went to everton and is know at pompey i think if they're given a fair chance at these big clubs then the future is bright |

vCash: 500 | Of the total number of players that compete on any given weekend in the premiership the english players now amount to a minority i am not saying ban foreign players but i do think there should now be some restrictions to the amount of foreign players. The issue i think is not the top quality foreign players but the average/poor ones that hinder development of our younger and academy players indeed some clubs have signed foreign players for nothing more than to generate shirt sales etc in that players home country. |

vCash: 500 | i agree wholeheartedly that many foreign players are better than the english ones, however, i also would like to see more english talent at liverpool. also i need to blame maclaren for our loss....who would give carson his first cap in a crucial match? shoulda stuck with paulie robinson |
