Cole quibbled over 5 grand

now its all coming out.
According to that hard done by boy Ashley Cole Arsenal offered him £55,000 per wk instead of the £60,000 he wanted and from their refusal to budge on this, Cole deduced that the club no longer loved him.

I think hes been misquoted. It;s to do with him not being valued as much as Henry et al.

ah that old chestnut. Well he'd better speak to his publisher coz there must be a mis-print in his book.
i must admit i do find it strange that a player would want this aired in public as he must be aware how fans would teceive it. Rio Ferdinand had a similar problem aparently and he got his just desserts. I mean imagine quibbling over a few grand a week when their current salaries are far in excess of what the average person earns in a year, and then they expect sympathy.

I think it was a mixture of the fact that of how they did not offer it to him rather than their reluctance to. The fact that the world stopped when Henry was thinking about leaving so when the smae situation happened with him he got a bit of a nasty taste in his mouth.

your spot on but don't you see, in the eyes of Joe Public, this makes him more of a horses arse as his arrogance and over inflated opinion of himself begger belief. I Thought it was all about the team? Do you think Arsenal fans give a toss about his dented ego? Nobody is bigger than the club and yes Arsenal went out of their way to keep Henry but then he is their true World Class player and the fans demanded that the club do everything in their power to keep him.
I'm sure the average person would love to be insulted by such a 'derisory' salary offer

i can see his point of view but i certainly don't agree with him. I think by the fact he got so upset by it all says a lot about him as a person. I think most gooners will be glad to see the back of him as he clearly doesn't feel the same way about the club as they do.
as i said, i wouldn't mind being insulted with that kind of contract offer. He needs a reality check by the sounds of it.

i beg to differ. granted there aren't many strikers of Henry's class but there other left backs out there. Jesus, Cole is very good but it's too soon to associating the word class with him

can't agree. Gerrard and Terry are your real World class players who could walk into any team.

Other left-backs as good (if not better) as Cole : Gabriel Heinze, Javier Zanetti (ok a wing-back but Cole is sometimes also), Sorin, Zambrotta, Wayne Bridge to name but a few

Zanetti I think is to inconsistent

Sorin is well well past his best

Zambrotta is also no spring chicken

Bridge I think is good but we shall see that he warms the bench now Cole's there

Going back to the original topic, he sounds like a baby almost. If it wasn't for the monetary value of the £5,000 and just the status symbol then he really is a plonker, you just can't keep kids like that happy.

Next he would be complaining that the fans don't chant his name enough.

On the subject of better players, Zambrotta is the best left back in the world. Heinze is better defensively while Riise is just as good, if not better going forward. A great player but not irreplaceable.

When 2 big clubs like chelsea and arsenal fight over a player they is always gonna be media talks, some may be true, some may not be true, fact is, wether arsenal didnt want cole, or cole didnt want to play for arsenal, it really doesnt matter, he is gone now, he, arsenal, cheslea and the media might aswel just put it to rest, and let both teams get on with concentrating on the titles, yes i dont really like him either but fact is i was more annoyed at pires than i am at cole, and he didnt get half the ammount of chew.

just my opinion :P
