vCash: 500 | Goalkeeper Petr Cech has undergone surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull afte Cech was injured in a first-minute collision with Stephen Hunt at the Madejski Stadium and his replacement, Carlo Cudicini, was also later knocked out following a collision with Ibrahima Sonko. A statement from Chelsea read: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Petr Cech was transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford last night (Saturday) to the specialist neuro-surgical unit. “He underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull. “The operation was successful but it is too early to give an accurate assessment of his condition. “Naturally everybody at Chelsea wishes Petr, and Carlo Cudicini - who was discharged last night (Saturday) after being knocked unconscious - a speedy recovery from their injuries. “Chelsea FC has reviewed the video of both incidents. “Chelsea will be writing to the Football Association with our observations.” The champions won at the Madejski Stadium thanks to Frank Lampard’s deflected free-kick but finished with nine men after losing both keepers and John Obi Mikel, who was dismissed for a second bookable offence. Reading also finished with 10 men after Andre Bikey was sent off also for two yellow cards but Jose Mourinho was distinctly unimpressed with the way Hunt went in on his keeper. “I’m not saying his intention was to send my keeper to hospital. But it was a very stupid challenge," he added. Reading manager Steve Coppell backed his player. He said: “It was the first minute of the game and I have a player who has been desperate to play for a long time. It was a greasy surface and I think he (Hunt) does have a right to be there or thereabouts. “I know 100 per cent for sure there was no intent but there was undoubtedly a heavy collision. I can understand what he (Mourinho) is saying but there is no way Hunty went in there to try to damage the goalkeeper.” |

vCash: 500 | so.... I wasnt watching the match but I saw a comment by someone that Terry played GK in this game and thought he meant it figuratively meaning that he saved cHELSEA'S @ss in this match.... so I jus want to confirm, did he just play really well, or did he actually put on the gloves and stande between the posts??? Sorry to hear about Cech... but i guess its a part of being in a contact sport, i wouldn't expect him back for at least 4 weeks MANCHESTER UNITED ARE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!!!!!! |

vCash: 500 | ok i went too far... yes this doesnt make him any better a defender he already is, but i never thought of it before, like it is just amazing that he can when Chelsea needs him to, it is a notch to his captain role for any team, Chelsea or England.... I'm just amazed that he can do it.... let me keep my jaw on the ground.... maybe i shoul look for a vid of him making some saves.... MANCHESTER UNITED ARE CHAMPIONS AGAIN!!!!!!!! |

vCash: 726 | jeebus, that looked a bit heavy. also, Gman, i think you're getting a bit carried away. this kind of thing happens from time to time. it happened in a Scottish Cup final a few years back i think, Aberdeen vs Rangers if memory serves, and Jim Leishman had to go off quite early in the first half. with no spare keepers on the bench, they had to stick a defender in goals for the last hour or so. |

As I remember Glen Johnson became a goalie before in a Cup game against Newcastle and he saved a free kick with his foot. GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED | |

vCash: 500 | Well its certainly a bugger having Cech and Cuducini out, but i have a bit faith in Hilario for the Barca match! i guess its just really bad timing! Also saw a pic of Terry in the Goalkeeping kit!! made me chuckle!! |

vCash: 500 | i don't think the challende was intentional. just one of these things. it is a contact sport and keepers are asked to put themselves in harms way. Hope Cech makes a speedy recovery, although i hear a specialist said that he will be out for 6 months. |

vCash: 435 | ya, he'll spend his new year in the hospital. I agree that the challenge was done unintentionally but Mourinho was saying things big. He said Cech could die from that challenge. A fracture skull is a serious one and does he wants Cech to die? He must thank the bless of God for letting the injury not to be more serious. GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED |
