Fabregas signs 8 year deal

Fabregas, who joined Arsenal from Barcelona three years ago, had been linked with a move to Real Madrid but had stated his intention to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

He told the club's official website: "I am so happy here and I am delighted to have signed this new contract that will keep me at the club for years to come.

"I wanted to pay back the club, especially Arsene Wenger for the support and faith he has shown in me.

"What is important now is for the team to realise its potential and win trophies. That is our main aim, that is my aim as well."

Fabregas' agent Joseba Diaz had earlier told Spanish website sport.es that the midfielder had put pen to paper.

"It is a fabulous contract for the player and also for the club," he said.

"Cesc feels very happy with how much Arsenal value him and in the knowledge that Arsenal are going to build their future around him."

It's a good news for Arsenal. They tried very hard to put Fabregas away from Real.

Fabregas is a great talent and Arsenal could not afford to lose him because he is the new Patrick Vieira.

I am really really happy hes signed a new contract it will really help arsenal and an 8 year contract feeld like heaven. Arsene and fabregas should be proud. He will surely be a hero to come at arsenal

being a top player at Arsenal so young and if he stays loyal unlike Ashley Cole, he could one day be Arsenal's captain, then he will fully compared to Vieira.

Good news for Arsenal, will it keep away potential suitors? Not likely. All that this means is that Arsenal will be guaranteed a huge fee if he decides to leave. Look at Reyes and Cole, if a player wants to go then he will.

However, that being said it is still good news for the Gooners.

his loyalty cannot be guaranteed at such a young age. You only can say a player is loyal when he is still playing until his 30s, like Giggs, Keane and Scholes for United.

I learnt this lesson from David Beckham. Everyone say that he is loyal when he came out of United's academy but he do leave.

It is certainly good news, if he didn't sign then Arsenal may lose him for nothing, but now they are protecting themselves. If he wants to leave nothing will stop him but now at least they will be repaid from their investment.

Make a player sign a long contract with you while he is passionate about the team is a good choice. Moreover, Fabregas is hot now on other club's short list.

exactly 8 years 8 years that shows that he wants to stay at arsenal for a long time and i mean a long just like rooney wants to stay at man u for a really long time as well there are rumours that he will sign a 10 YEAR contract!

Young players nowadays are like hot cakes. If a young lad has talent, it may be guaranteed for 10 years or more. That's why Fab and Wayne is so popular.

In the context of Arsenal, we must say he is going to be the next Patrick Vieira or Gilberto.

In my opinion he will be better than Gilberto and if he does as good as Vieira ill be surprised because Vieira was all we asked for he was amazing i dont know if Fabregas will be as good as him we will just have to see later...
