Iain Dowie Sacked

Iain Dowie became the first managerial casualty of the Premiership season when he was sacked by bottom club Charlton yesterday, I think Alan Curbishley was always going to be a tough act to follow.
Curbishley has riled out any notion of a return to The Valley.

It really shows what a good job Curbishley was doing with an average squad.

Charlton were my picks for relegation with Dowie in charge. It doesn't really suprise me with his sacking either, they have been rotten.

I agree I don't think Curbishley got the credit he deserved turning a low budget team with an average squad into a solid premiership side , look what has happened to them without him.

Charlton have appointed Dowie's assistant Les Reed as the new boss on a permenant basis.

Never heard of him. COuld go either way. He could be a lame duck manager thatgets the stick when they go down or it could be a Jol types situation

as far as Dowie goes. The success that he had at CP? a lot of that can be put down to the fact that that he had a striker that was way ahead of anyone in the squad in Johnson. many people said it, Palace would have been relegated a lot earlier, from the prem, if they did't have AJ.

something else has went on here behind the scenes. i mean 11 games in. a bit early and if they had no confidence in Dowie then why appoint him in the first place. doesn't say much for the board's judgment. Charlton will go down this season i think.

seen that coming. Curbishley did a great job there which is now been really appreciated. Simon Jordan must be feeling a little smug.

Theres a rumour doing the rounds that Les Reed was forming a kind of mutiny against Dowie with his eye on the manageraial position
