Kanu wants longer Portsmouth stay

Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu insists he wants to stay at Fratton Park but wants the club to show the same commitment.

The Nigerian has been quoted as saying he wants to return to his former club Ajax, but he now claims his priority is to extend his stay on the south coast.

He told local newspaper The News: "I dont know why they keep on saying that about Ajax. Theres nothing happening. Im a Portsmouth player. I love the supporters, I love the club and definitely I want to be here. Its just up to the management to show their own commitment. I dont know who these people are that keep going on about Ajax, Ajax, Ajax. I havent even heard from Ajax. I have said before that its difficult to travel for two hours from London to Portsmouth and then train and then go back. But if I can have a commitment from the club, then I can settle down, have a house here and be relaxed. I want a longer contract. If you have six months of a one-year contract, you dont know whats going to happen. Its just for the management to say okay and then give you more years on your contract so you can relax. It depends on the management how long it is and then well take it from there."

Kanu joined Pompey in the summer on a free transfer and has scored nine goals to help Harry Redknapps team into the top six in the Premiership.

i wouldnt mind if he left as long as it was 3.5 million-4 million
