vCash: 379 | Villa sign Carew Norwegian striker John Carew has signed for Aston Villa on a three & a half year contract from Lyon, rumour was Milan Barros was going the other way. Seems it was a straight swop Carew for Barros , who d'ya reckon got the best deal? Last edited by Matt the Thrasher : 01-22-2007 at 08:46 PM. |

vCash: 379 | I remember him being a good player at Valencia he then went to Roma & Besiktas before joining Lyon he is a big strong centre foward and a proven goal scorer . |

vCash: 500 | I remember Carew doing well for Valencia a few years ago but I think he suffered with some knee injuries if I remember rightly which blighted his progress. I have always been a fan of Baros but he never seemed to settle with Villa. |

vCash: 500 | I would say that Villa have the better deal. Baros hasnt been scoring goals and hasnt been playing regularly. Carew is a big strong striker, exactly what Villa need. I remember him playing against Madrid a couple of weeks back. He took Cannavaro to school. Now if he can do that he must be decent . |

vCash: 500 | I knew from day one Milan Baros wouldnt work at Villa - i always thought he would be one of those players who thought he was bigger than the club because he had won the European Cup - but he seemed to have forgot the fact that he joined a club that had also won it IMO Baros was lazy and just didnt want to be there - either stood around with his hands on his hips or ran with his head down like a donkey on drugs (No offence Mr Heskey) John Carew i know of more from his Rosenborg days where it all began for him on the European stage i think they made the semi-finals of the Champions League - he got better when he signed for Valencia scoring important goals and going to the Final of the Champions League Only 3 years separate Carew and Baros - but those extra 3 years on Carew are better experience - he has played for big clubs and proved himself in Europe so i think we have the better deal by far if he can stay fit that is - Ashley Young looks set to sign later so upfront is looking good |

vCash: 500 | good goalscorer but a little arrogant. i know a bit more about him as he's faced Scotland with Norway and played against Celtic for Valencia. Good finisher. will prove a prudent buy for Villa if he can stay injury free. Big strong target man who'll be expected to do for Villa what Sutton did for Celtic |

vCash: 500 | Isn't the system at Villa a lot different than Liverpool. I think he had some injury problems too so if he's not getting a regular run in the side and the formation and style of play is very different i'm not surprised his form dipped. |

vCash: 500 | Well O'Leary liked him out wide left but as he ran with his head down he was useless there - i think O'Neill basically saw him for what he really was and didnt like his attitude by bringing on Gabby Agbonlahor and prefering Luke Moore out wide left - Baros scored some important goals in the derbies against Blues and Baggies but we never really saw anything special from him for £7m |

vCash: 500 | what an enigma, and an expensive one at that, Baros is. he hasn't really ever produced the form for clubs that he has for the Czech rep. Flatters to deceive. |

vCash: 500 | Very true - he works well with Jan Koller at international level - reminds me of Phillips and Quinn alot - big Quinn winning the ball in the air nodding it down and super Kev putting it away - exactly the same situation with Baros and Koller |
