Kanu stalling on new Pompey contract

Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu will hold out until the summer before deciding on a contract extension at Fratton Park.

Pompey have offered the Nigerian international a "generous" new deal but he has delayed putting pen to paper on a one-year extension.

Manager Harry Redknapp has been left caught in two minds, with Kanu's current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie said: "We have made Kanu a generous offer to stay and it is in his hands. He wants to leave it until the end of the season to see what happens."

Kanu's 10 goals this season have been a major factor in the south coast club's performance despite their dip in fortunes since the turn of the year.

I heard he wants to go back to Ajax ,don't know if they'd want him though.

Pompey are the worst team in the prem on current form apart from you know who.

He openly said he was going to leave and wanted to go back to Ajax a few months back. It looks like he is waiting for a better offer.

I'd be inclined to let him go. He had a good start at Pompey but has not done much since the first few months of the season. Not sure what kind of wages he is on.
