vCash: 500 | Vaesen wants to stay at Bbirmingham! Nico Vaesen is urging Birmingham to let him know whether he has a long-term future at St Andrews. The back-in-favour goalkeeper has six months left of his current contract - plus a year's option should the club exercise it. He has no desire to leave, but would welcome clarification of where he fits into Steve Bruce's plans. "I love the area and love Birmingham City," said Vaesen. "I am happy where I am. I would like to sort out my future sooner rather than later, but I have confidence that they will do that in good time." Vaesen earned a first-team recall after a series of errors from Taylor and is aware that a string of positive results would further enhance his chances of staying at Birmingham. He admitted: "If we win five or six games in a row it is certainly easier to knock on the manager's door and talk about contracts." Vaesen spent spells on loan at Gillingham, Bradford and Crystal Palce in a bid to prove his fitness, but has spent the last year as back-up to Taylor until recently. He said: "Last year was difficult. You can accept being behind a player like Maik Taylor who is a great goalkeeper, but it doesn't make it any easier." Think I`d like to see him stay for at least the 1 year option! |
