vCash: 480 | Mourinho admits he may not be at Chelsea next season Even in the heat of victory last night, Jose Mourinho sparked fresh controversy when he admitted he did not know whether he would be at Chelsea next season. With Roman Abramovich absent from the game, the speculation about the Chelsea manager's future was given a new twist. Asked what he would be doing next season, Mourinho said: "What I want is to remain in England and stay as Chelsea coach but in life sometimes you don't get what you wish for. If I cannot be in charge of Chelsea then I will have to go somewhere else." The club have successfully kept the lid on any attempt to get Mourinho to talk about his rift with Abramovich in recent months but the Chelsea manager certainly chose the right moment. With the away support in raptures and Chelsea heading for a potential quadruple - Carling Cup, FA Cup, Premiership and Champions League - he is fast becoming the manager no one can sack. Mourinho also began the mind games with Liverpool, who look set to be Chelsea's Champions League semi-final opponents for the second time in three years. With Liverpool 3-0 up from their first leg against PSV Eindhoven, who they play at Anfield tonight, Mourinho said Rafael Benitez's team had the advantage because they were not contenders for the Premiership or the FA Cup. Asked whether he wanted revenge for the 2005 Champions League defeat, Mourinho said: "Revenge is not for me in football or in life. It will be a tie in which we start from behind. Why? It is simple, Liverpool play only in the Champions League and Chelsea play in the FA Cup and Premiership. We have players suspended [Michael Essien] and we have players on yellow cards [Ballack, Carvalho, Joe Cole]." |
