vCash: 480 | Newspapers claim Eriksson is to take charge at Newcastle Sven-Goran Eriksson is poised to replace Glenn Roeder at Newcastle if the latest newspaper reports are anything to go by. Although Roeder's position had not been thought to be in immediate jeopardy, The Times claims that 'The former England head coach, who has been out of work since the World Cup finals, is understood to be high on the list of Freddy Shepherd, the Newcastle chairman, if he decides to bring an end to Roeder's reign.' The newspaper claims that 'an approach has been made to Eriksson's representatives', and, while the Swede would prefer to return to management with a team in the Champions League, he is unlikely to receive a better offer than Newcastle. With the terms of his severance deal with the FA, which has seen him Eriksson remain on the Soho Square payroll to the tune of £6,500 a week, finally due to expire in June, the former Lazio coach is desperate to return to football. As Newcastle have been severely handicapped by injuries this season, Roeder's dismissal would be greeted sympathetically. Yet Shepherd has proved notoriously difficult to predict in the past, dismissing both Kenny Dalglish and Bryan Robson just a few matches into new seasons. Roeder himself was a surprise appointment after the Toon had first courted Sam Allardyce, Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill. Eriksson would also be an unpopular choice, with his stock falling dramatically during the ignominious final months of his stint as England coach. Yet, while 'Eriksson may not be many people's perfect solution,' The Times insists that 'Shepherd is giving serious consideration to the idea.' |

vCash: 465 | can't blame the manager for 99.9% of results has to be the players, too many players in the comfort zone because of our horrendous injury list, which roeder has never used as an excuse, we need to sell dyer because the only thing he does is collect his wages and play like his names suggests, also sven can f off we don't need an idiot playboy in charge Last edited by toonmagic9 : 04-15-2007 at 08:46 PM.
