Drogba to stay at The Bridge

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has denied reports that Didier Drogba will be leaving Stamford Bridge. Rumours have been founded on the recent capture of Ukrainian and AC Milan star striker Andriy Shevchenko.

In an Exclusive interview for Chelsea TV Jose Mourinho said "A lot of people were speaking about Andriy to come and Didier Drogba to go but that was never, never, never the idea,"

He added "They are two strikers with very different qualities. Andriy has creativity, speed with the ball, movement, intelligence, he is an amazing player.

"Didier is strong, powerful, a fighter, fantastic in creating spaces for other people to score."

Jose could be signalling a change of formation for next season with the two strikers playing alongside each other. The reputed £30 million paid by Chelsea for Shevenchenko added to the £24 million for Drogba last season should see the rest of the premiership facing its first £50 million plus front line.

I am sure the Premiership defenders are relishing the prospect of playing against these two in full flight.

Maybe this partnership could work.

Although Shevchenko and Crespo played well together last year at Milan.

The price of defenders just shot up. With this lot the rest of the Premiership better get ready to batten down the hatches.

No-one can match Chelsea. In fact they are getting further ahead of the pack.

Surley they must win everything next season. LEAGUE , CUPS , CHAMPS LEAGUE. Wonder what the odds are...............

All quality players but none as good as SHEARER.

Wonder if we could get Crespo on loan??????????????

It's lookin well dodgy for next season but Abramovich and Jose are ruining the Premiership. It just stupid now.

£50 MILLION FOR TWO STRIKERS.

What could watford do with the £50 million. I wonder.

This is an obscene amount of money and wages should be capped worldwide.

Send the £50 mil to Malawi where people have no water or food. Or send it to the Jocks to build outside toilets for their Parliament building.

The only reason we have overspent on our parliamment building was because we had bloody English contractors

Agreed though, the situation at Chelski is even worse than the dream team at Real Madrid. At least when teams played Real they always knoew they had a chance against the dodgy defenec, but Chelsea??

Who will stop them?

I'll think you'll find not even English contractors are that good at ripping off the Scots. This one smacks of the Irish for me.

As an Irishman once said to me after he shafted me in a deal..

Only a combination of Celtic proportions can stop the Iberian/Russo team taking over the world

Drogba will still leave in my opinion, unless Mourinho decides to play 2 strikers up front

I seen a different player after watching Drogba's display for Ivory Coast. I thought that he was excellent and maybe the Shevchenko/Drogba partnership will be very fruitful for Chelsea - if Drogba keeps up that type of form and forgets about the diving and moaning.

would prefer Gudjohnsen up front with Shevchenko to Drogba but there you go.
Crespo will return to Italy next season and with Gudjohnsen gone will we see Mourinho splash the cash on another striker?

The FORCE will always triumph over the dark side!!!

Obviously the money will be there but I have a feeling that Mourinho will keep Drogba and have another that he will flourish playing alongside Shevchenko.

The Ukranian will have all the attention and it will allow Drogba to play with more freedom and less pressure. Time will tell though.

No doubt about it!!!!

But I could play well up front with Shevchenko and thats saying something.

However plays for Chelsea willl be being supplied by Duff, Robben, Cole, Lampard, Ballack etc etc etc. Even an average striker would score 20 a la Drogba.
